WD 640Gb USB External HDD $90

7:11 PM / Posted by Nico Atienza / comments (0)

Booya. Here's a Newegg double whammy. These guys are awesome. They've got a 640Gb external HDD for $90! Holy cow. I've been expecting 500Gb drives to drop to this price by now but this a pleasant surprise all right! I'll take a 640Gb any day for under $100! The hardrive on show today is a Western Digital Elements HDD. I personally own the 500Gb version which works like a charm on my Macbook. I highly recommend picking up this harddrive if you need more space or just need an external storage solution!

Kingston 4Gb SDHC $8

7:03 PM / Posted by Nico Atienza / comments (0)

Finally. A memory card that is sub $10. I don't know about you guys but $10 seems like the top of Mt. Everest to me. Anything below $10 is always jumped on, but anything above warrants a loooonngg pause. Today, in the sub $10 category is a Kingston 4Gb SDHC card. It's going to be a matter of time before these things are virtually given away for free with new cameras! There seems to be confusion with the pricing of this product but I guarantee you that you won't pay more than $10 including shipping! Also, when it comes to SDHC storage, please make sure your device supports it!

Nokia E71 Unlocked $375

5:43 PM / Posted by Nico Atienza / comments (0)

I've always loved the Nokia E-Series. My first smartphone after my Motorola Razr was in fact a Nokia E-61. It was hard to part with it after I got an iPhone, but I did eventually. The latest in the E-Series is the E-71. Holy Cow, this thing is skinny as hell. I haven't actually held on in my hand, but I can't wait till I do. This is an amazing deal for a formidable smartphone!

ViewSonic 22" 720p Widescreen LCD Monitor/HDTV, Refurbished $240

10:41 PM / Posted by Nico Atienza / comments (0)

Hmmm. This is an interesting deal. Up for grabs is a 22" Viewsonic Widescreen Monitor that doubles as an 720p HDTV. To make the deal even sweeter, there's an ATSC/NTSC/QAM Tuner built in. I don't normally endorse refurbs, but I can make an exception this one time. This deal has certainly turned my perception around for a new TV. I can't decide if I want a large flat screen or a monitor/tv combo? Anyways, here's the deal I found. You might want to do a little due diligence before you think about picking this one up. This display isn't for everyone.

T-Mobile G1 Hands-On

8:45 PM / Posted by Nico Atienza / comments (0)

So, it's finally here. At least in one incarnation. I'm not going to lie, before I was an iPhone fan boy, I was very excited when I first heard about the Open Handset Alliance and it's love child, the Android OS. In a shocking announcement a couple of weeks ago, T-Mobile announced that it was releasing the G1, the world's first Android powered phone, in conjunction with HTC.

There is definitely excitement in the air with the release of the phone and more importantly the release of the much awaited Android OS. Enough talk. Videos!

Rollingstone.com's 25 Funniest Web Videos

10:24 AM / Posted by Nico Atienza / comments (0)

I found this when I was romping around on Digg. This countdown is hilarious. You have to see it. It's like the best of the best of Youtube videos that made the whole world laugh!

Check out the Rollingstone.com Countdown HERE.

Here's my take on the 25 videos:

25. Fat Kid on Rollercoaster
That kid seemed mortified. That laughter doesn't help!

24. McDonald's Rap
So, this is where the Taco Bell Drive-Thru rap came from. It looks staged but is pretty clever none the less!

23. Toilet Prank
Oh, man! This is hilarious. I remember seeing this a couple of years ago. Don't you love the people that went back into the toilet?

22. Cop Eats Pot Brownies and Freaks Out!!!
Hahahaha! Oh, man. You gotta love the 5-0.

21. Zombie Kid Likes Turtles
I love turtles too, kid!

20. Crazy Frog Bros
This is hilarious. Kudos to geeky little kids everywhere!

19. Whistle Tips with Bubb Rubb
Not as funny, but goes to show that black people are always being hated on!

18. Dramatic Lemur
Now this is some dramatic shit alright! Damn, in THX too!

17. Grape Stomping Lady Falls!
Pwned! Enough said.

16. What Really Happened to the Life Size X-Wing
Apparently, you need a backstory to understand this. Nevertheless, it's still pretty funny!

15. Bill O'Reilly Flips Out — DANCE REMIX
LMAO! Holy cow. That was funny. Bill O'Reilly is such a tool!

14. Sesame Street Casino — Elmo and De Niro
This shows how the bastardization of a children's cartoon for adult pleasure is hilarious!

13. Grindcore Wedding
Rock on! These dancers are giving 'Crazy Frog Bros' a run for their money. Also, the soundtrack sounds like a couple of pigs snorting!

12. Benny Lava
I've posted this before. This is hands down the funniest shit I've seen!

11. Scary "Mary Poppins" Recut Trailer
"Hide your children" is right!

10. Guinea Pigs "Highway Star" Video
This is quite idiotic. Plus, the last few seconds were some of the most random shit I've ever seen!

09. Barack Roll
Barack for President! How can you not vote for a President that can bust a groove like he can?

08. Bar Mitzvah That's What Friends Are For
This is just painful to watch. The funny part is that they looked like they were really trying hard!

07. Flea Market Montgomery Commercial
This guy has a future as a ghost writer. "Hey Hey (what) Montgomery (what) Flea Market (what)"

06. Kid Impersonates Napoleon Dynamite During Spelling Bee
Yo, this guy is my hero!

05. Porn Call to QVC
This is some funny shit! His last ditch effort to say "porno" before hanging up must have left a bad taste in the mouths of those announcers!

04. Dildo on the News
LMAO!

03. Boom Goes the Dynamite
This guy has a bright future at ESPN. He even has his very own catch phrase!

02. Top 10 Angry On-Camera Meltdowns
I love the news. Reporters are only humans! ("What? Really?")

01. Star Wars Kid
A worthy champion.

There you have it folks. There are some videos missing here like the Dramatic Prairie Dog or Sneezing Panda. Nonetheless, there are some real gems that are sure to be included in the Youtube hall of fame!

Sharp 32" 720p LCD HDTV $556

9:55 AM / Posted by Nico Atienza / comments (0)

A buddy of mine, Matt B., let me know that Westinghouse LCD TVs aren't very good. After that, I was a little embarrassed to even have posted two deals on them a few days. I am going to profess that I have very little experience or knowledge when it comes to flat panel TVs. I have never owned one and I'm actually looking to get my very first one.

To redeem myself, I found a deal for a 32" Sharp Aquos LCD TV. I'm guessing that it is leaps and bounds better than Westinghouse TVs and I have actually seen it's prowess first hand.

The Company Man

9:27 AM / Posted by Nico Atienza / comments (0)

This is pretty unsurprising. John Hodgman, whose claim to fame is portraying "PC" on the Mac ads was spotted recently on a New York subway using an iPhone. It's good to see that he's such a company man. He probably has the Mac commercials that he's in on his iPhone as well!

PS - The child's identity has been hidden.

On another note, I miss the New York subways. I miss the crazys that ride it every day. I miss those god awful and uncomfortable orange seats!

Google Earth-like App free for iPhone (APPLICATIONS)

4:01 PM / Posted by Nico Atienza / comments (0)

This is a crazy deal all right. Earthscape is a problem that is available for the iPhone that brings Google Earth for these devices. I've only downloaded free applications onto my iPhone so far and when I heard about this, I was all over it. So far, so good. I had to stop playing with it because my battery is dying but I'll get to play with it a little more when I get home and plug it in!

Again, I repeat, get this application. It's amazing! Google Earth on your iPhone is amazing and now it's FREE!

I (Heart) Cellular One!

9:47 PM / Posted by Nico Atienza / comments (0)

I just had my orientation on Monday for my new job as a Campus Rep for Cellular one in Montana. I'm glad I'm repping a GSM company who are the sole GSM Provider in the state. Growing up with GSM, I only know cellphone life with it. Aren't I perfect for this job?

Anyways, I have big expectations for this job. This should be the most exciting and challenging thing I've done in my life. I'm an Information Systems major at heart, but this marketing thing is quite exciting. Watch out everybody, Cell One is taking over the U of M Campus!

I hopefully will get to play with a lot of new phones with this job. Right now, I'm using and testing a Nokia 5310 Xpress Music phone. It's freakishly thin and quite feature rich. I will have a hands - on review of this handset shortly! I just need to find the time to play with it. It's well into the first half of school and there are so many things to do!

Stay tuned everybody.

Apple In-Ear Headphones w/ Remote

All-in-all, I would say that Kevin Rose was on point with this one. So, high five for him. This keynote should please iPod fanboys and fangirls who might have felt left out with all the love going to the iPhone 3G. C'mon now. Apple even got Jack Johnson to perform on the keynote to show all the music lovers some love! The price cuts on several iPods should also please iPod fans. The headphones look interesting. I'll be keeping my eye on them all right. The remote looks pretty intuitive and the tweeter and woofer capabilities for a sub $100 headset seem very interesting. I will be waiting till it becomes available in October before making up my mind on whether to pick it up.

I've been using iTunes 8 for a couple of hours now and I'm not overly wowed by it in any way. Sure, it's a nice upgrade but it isn't really much of an overhaul. The 'Genius' playlist is working now and then for me. I still keep getting the "Genius is not available for .... " now and then. However, 'Genius' is pretty good when actually does work.

There you have it. I enjoyed watching the hour long keynote. I will be keeping my eye on the MacBook refresh. Now, that's what I'm really after.
