AT&T shares the love
n 8Gb model. That's a jaw dropping price considering it sells for $400. Some of you may have heard the horror stories of how AT&T are making consumers jump through hoops in order to buy an refurbished iPhone. Background checks are often CIA grade, leaving consumer frustrated enough to forget about buying the iPhone. Now, AT&T have extended selling refurbished iPhones on their website. I'm guessing it won't get any easier buying these things. There is also a rule that individuals buying the refurbished iPhone will need to activate their contract then and there (online), instead of the usual iTunes activation. AT&T and Apple are reeling after the number of unlocked iPhones have spiked since it was released last summer. They are not helping themselves by making consumers jump through hoops like this. Well done Steve, you really like shooting yourself in the foot.
If you are lucky enough to get your hands on a refurbished iPhone, what can I tell you? It's one hell of a deal. Stick to Steve and go unlock your iPhone :). Maybe then he'll realize that an unlocked iPhone is really a smarter way to go.

Need items to fill your Amazon order to get super saver shipping?

Now, there are three ways to fill that gap. Sites are cropping up to help Amazon shoppers get the best "fillers". Fillers are cheap, inexpensive items, which are relatively useful. Some have included stationary, empty recordable media and so forth.
1. Add the secret code
After you search on Amazon for what you want, add &emi=ATVPDKIKX0DER to the end to find an item that gets you Super Saver Shipping.
2. FillerItem
Put the amount you need to spend to reach SSS in the box and select the categories to search within.
3. FreebieVille
A list of fillers from $1-$5.
Who knows, the filler item could be way cooler than the item were you originally planning to buy on Amazon!

Ooo Ooo! Windows Vista Toilet Paper?
The puns from this marketing gimmick is endless with many users shunning Microsoft latest operating system. It looks like Microsoft is cutting it's losses and have set a 2010 release date for it's newest operating system, currently dubbed "Windows 7".Personally, I downgraded from Vista to XP and I was running it on boot camp! Vista often sent my MacBook screeching to a halt. I'm guessing OS X Leopard enthusiasts are going to be the ones buying the most "Vista Toiletpapers" so they can laugh at Microsoft while "rubbing" it in at the same time.

It's about time
Hey Folks! Here's a little something for you today. Buy.com is selling a 4Gb Cruzer Micro for $19.95. Finally! It took a while. I was waiting for the price to drop on this for a while late last year and I couldn't wait any longer so I ended buying a Kingston 4Gb instead.
What can I say about this flash disk? It's pretty sturdy but it does have some annoying features. Firstly, it has a built in control system, "U3 System", which loads up this GUI making your flash disk like a mini computer. It's completely annoying and makes loading up the flash disk a tad slower. However, that annoying little thing can be uninstalled by downloading the 'U3 Uninstaller' from the SanDisk website.
We use these flash disks in the office and the most annoying thing about it is the retractable USB port. When you want it to retract, it doesn't and vice versa. It's really annoying to try and plug it in and find the USB retract. ARGH!

Anyways, for under $20, you can't really go wrong here. Enjoy!

Apple MacBook Pro MA895LL
Mac Book Pro MA895LL/A iPhone Blues
Oh man. This is one hell of a story. I was reading the Consumerist today and I ran into a little entry about how Colin M. walked into AT&T to buy a refurbished iPhone. The story goes that he was barraged by intrusive questions and in the end they refused to sell him a refurbished iPhone because they assumed he was going to unlock it.If you haven't read this story, read it here.
That just peed me off. I mean, how can they just do that? You're paying for it, aren't you? Then shouldn't you be able to do whatever the hell you want with it? I'm planning on buying an iPhone (and unlock it of course!) but if I'm going to be subjected to this, then maybe I might just buy it on Ebay for convenience sake.
I also read somewhere that unlocked iPhones cost Apple $300 million in losses. Well, that's the price you pay for using a closed network and a sleuth of angry unlock-happy programmers on your ass. You can't just do that anymore. You make the product, and we do whatever we want with it in order for it to suit our needs. Here's a solution. I bet if Apple made the an AT&T version as well as an unlocked version of the iPhone, then they wouldn't be hemorrhaging losses in excess of millions. After speaking to a few unlocked iPhone owners myself, they all agreed that they would pay a little more for an unlocked version of the iPhone sans getting the AT&T version and unlocking it themselves.
Oh well, I'm just glad the SDK came out so third party applications will now be made available on the iPhone. I'm probably going to wait a while before purchasing one. Who knows, it could be legally unlocked a year from now.
Oh, the Apple store has refurbished iPhones (8 Gb) for $349. Not a sweet deal, but if you plan on unlocking it, then it is :)
XBOX360s cheaper for Europeans
360 Arcade €199.99 / £159.99
360 Premium €269.99 / £199.99
360 Elite €369.99 / £259.99
That is so frigging unfair! Instead, US buyers can look forward to price cuts on Windows Vista. Wow. I'm running to the store right now. NOT! I guess if enough people bitch about why the Europeans are getting price cuts and not the US then Microsoft might pay a little more attention. We did kill HD-DVD didn't we?

Need a man? Try the Apple Store!
Holy Moly! I don't want to be a love doctor or anything, but according to Cosmo magazine, Apple's 142 flagship stores are a great place to meet a man! Could there be a little iLove in the building?"Most guys are natural gadget lovers, and with sales of iPods and MacBooks skyrocketing, more men than ever are stopping by Apple boutiques. The vibe at the stores is conducive to man meeting too: You can check your email among cuties, take a free workshop on anything from Photoshop to podcasting (a great opportunity to strike up a conversation), or just survey the, ahem, good-looking merchandise."

So-So Sound for your iPod
With a sleuth of speakers out in the market, there are some for the uber-rich, like Bose speakers, and some for normal, cheapskate people like you and I. Here is a real bargain for a set of iPod speakers.
Logitech X-240 Speakers
Circuitcity.com price $19.99, after 2 rebates
Logitech is a premier brand when it comes to home electronics, but after reading reviews on this iPod speaker set, it doesn't look too good. The speakers suffer from a few design flaws, especially with the awkward placement of control knobs. Also, the bass can be a little boomy.
Nevertheless, if you don't have a decent speaker set for your lovely iPod, this is a noteworthy pick up. If you already have one, then you might to let this one go. Sometimes, shiny black exteriors aren't as attractive as you think.
